About Us

Natalie Waddington originates from Manchester, United Kingdom and grew up in South Africa for most of her life. She is a mother of three boys (including identical twins). Natalie studied a BA  majoring in Psychology and Education.  Her post graduate studies resulted in a Higher Diploma in Education, majoring in Guidance.  Natalie also has an Accelerated Certificate in Education  (ACE) majoring in Mathematical Literacy. She has taught English, Guidance and Mathematical Literacy at high school level. She enrolled in a Bachelor of Primary Education (Foundation Phase) to gain an understanding of the development of young children.  After 24 years teaching, she turned her attention to hypnotherapy. She has qualified as a Parts Facilitator using Roy Hunters' approach and is a certified Hypnotherapist with the South Africa Institute of Hypnosis , the leading school of hypnosis in Africa.

 

Natalie assists her husband at the SANPARK Rehab Centre in Klerksdorp (North West).  Apart from her academic and educational interests she is an avid reader, enjoys music and keeps herself busy on the piano and guitar. Her warm heart makes her a firm favourite with her dachshund, three cats and a parrot. Being creative she enjoys crocheting and dot painting on stones. She is understanding, easy to talk to, and caring.

 

Dr Rod's father was a Yorkshireman who came to South Africa as an infant and his mother was of Irish decent. Rod's school years were marked by success on the sports field. He played first team, rugby, cricket, tennis and badminton and played football in the Border first division. He represented three provinces (counties) and the South African National Army at cricket as an all rounder.

After his compulsory army training he started his academic career, obtaining a Licentiate in Theology (Cum Laude), an Hons and a Masters degree. He was awarded the President's award for the top student in the Commonwealth from the College of Preceptors UK for the teachers qualification ACP.   Rod is a qualified Hypnotherapist, Eriksonian Hypnotherapy Practitioner, a Parts Facilitator,  a NLP and Neurosematics Meta-States Practitioner, a Mentor and Coach. He obtained the Organisation Development Education and Training Practitioner's certificate before embarking on a PhD in Organisational Development and Wellness with the North-West University in Potchefstroom. 

 

He has experience in the Banking sector with Barclays National Bank in Cape Town and in the motor industry with Volkswagen.  His pastoral work was in Cape Town, Pretoria, Berlin (Eastern Cape) and Hartswater (Northern Cape). He also assisted with the IEC (Independent Electoral Commission) monitoring the watershed, National elections in 1994 and was responsible for resolving volatile conflict situations  between political parties.

 

Regarding his Educational background, he was appointed lecturer at Taung College of Education in 1985. He soon became Senior lecturer, Head of Department and later Vice Rector and Acting Rector of the Teachers Training College.  Rod served as HR manager of a multi-campus TVET College after the merger of the Training College with five other Technical Colleges in 2002.  He is an author of numerous books and academic papers and an international conference speaker, both in the United Kingdom and South Africa. Rod has been training and  counselling, youth and adults for over 30 years and uses an eclectic approach when assisting clients.

 

In addition, he has successfully treated anorexia nervosa teenagers.  He also has experience working with addiction in the SANPARK Rehab Centre for the past three years. He is presently engaged in a research project working with Mental Space Psychology and Addiction at the same rehab centre.

Rod loves American Saddlebred and Arabian horses, reading, research, music (from folk to rock), cricket, football (ManU supporter) and nature. He enjoys art and has sold a number of oil paintings of the Cape in his youth.
